User Guide

Welcome to the Athletic.net Wiki. Any signed in coach may edit/complete this page.

But, it is sort of painful. You're better off buying Hytek. In short, you
  • download the entries in Hytek semicolon-delimited format,
  • import into Excel,
  • rearrange, delete, or insert the columns based on the Hytek results format as outlined in the Meet Manager documentation on their website;
  • run the meet
  • enter the results, points, places, etc.;
  • save as a tab-delimited file,
  • use Word to replace the tabs with semicolons, and
  • upload to athletic.net.

Detailed instructions (work in progress):

OBTAIN THE ENTRIES FILE
  • Go to, "Coach Tools" then, "Meet Registration."
  • Under, "Manage a Home Meet" click on the specific meet.
  • Click on, "Download Entries."
  • Under, "Entry Download Format" you should select, "Hytek."
  • Make sure, "Include all athletes in HyTek/EasyMeet download" is checked. The rosters will come in handy later.
  • Press the button to, "Create and Download Entry File."
  • Save the text file, "HtMeetEntries.txt." Make a copy and name it, "OriginalHtMeetEntries.txt."
  • Open the text file, "HtMeetEntries.txt" using Notepad.
  • Delete the rosters from the beginning of the text file (those lines starting with the letter, "I").
  • Don't touch the lines starting with "Q" or "D" as those are the relay and individual entries, respectively.
  • Save the text file.

IMPORT THE ENTRIES FILE INTO MICROSOFT EXCEL(tm)
  • Open Microsoft Excel 2003
  • A blank workbook with three worksheets should appear by default. If not, go to File->New.
  • Go to Data->Import External Data->Import Data and open the text file, "HtMeetEntries.txt."
  • The Text Import Wizard will appear.
  • Select, "Delimited" and click Next.
  • Select, "Semicolon" and click Next.
  • Scroll to the last column and shift-leftclick on it so that all columns are selected.
  • Select, "Text" and click Finish.
  • Place the data into the existing worksheet at location =$A$1. Click OK.
  • Name the worksheet, "Entries" and name the two blank worksheets, "Relays" and "Individuals."
  • Save the Excel workbook.

PREPARE THE EXCEL FILE FOR THE MEET
  • Copy-and-paste the relay entries (they start with the letter "Q") from the, "Entries" worksheet to the, "Relays" worksheet.
  • Copy-and-paste the individual entries (they start with the letter "D") from the, "Entries" worksheet to the, "Individuals" worksheet.
  • Download the file http://www.hy-tekltd.com/Updates/TFTEAMMANAGER2-UserGuide.ziphttp://www.hy-tekltd.com/Updates/TFTEAMMANAGER2-UserGuide.zip
  • The PDF file within the zip file contains a description of the file format on pages 118 and 119. It also goes into additional detail on acceptable values for each column.
  • Go to the relays worksheet.
* Change the letter "Q" in all rows of column A to the letter "D"
  • Cut-and-paste column B (contains school abbreviations) and insert the column in front of column J so it becomes column I.
  • Update column B (now contains the full school names) by combining it with column C (indicates A squad, B squad, etc.). For example, if a row in column B says, "Acme High" and column C says, "B" then update column B to say, "Acme High B"
  • Clear the contents of column C.
  • Cut-and-paste column D and insert the column in front of column G so it becomes column F.
  • Columns C and D should now be blank.
  • Column E should now contain the total distance of the relay event (400 for 4x100, 1600 for 4x400, 3200 for 4x800).
  • Column F should now contain the genders (M, F, or X for mixed).
  • Column G contains the entered seed marks, if any. Clear the contents.
  • Insert four new columns in front of column H so it becomes column L.
  • Leave columns G and H blank.
  • Column I contains the division i.e. "Varsity" or "JV"
  • Column J contains the round i.e. "F" for Final or "P" for Prelims.
  • Column K will contain the results.
  • Column L should already contain "M" in each row i.e. Metric.
  • Column M should already contain the school abbreviations.
  • Delete the existing Column N. The new column N will contain the overall places.
  • Column O will contain the places within a heat.
  • Column P will contain the heat number.
  • Column Q will remain blank.
  • Column R will contain the points scored.
  • The remaining columns will contain the names and data of the individuals. If a coach entered more than four individuals into a relay event then you'll have to figure out which four ran the event and delete the data for the others. You'll also have to insert and rearrange columns to get the proper format.
  • Columns S-AA contain the data for the first individual on each relay team.
  • Column S should contain the last names.
  • Column T should contain the first names.
  • Column U should be blank.
  • Column V should contain the gender of the individual.
  • Columns W and X should be blank.
  • Column Y should contain the class i.e. ?, Fr, So, Jr, Sr
  • Columns Z and AA should be blank.
  • Repeat the pattern in columns S-AA for columns AB-AJ, AK-AS, and AT-BB.
  • The remaining columns should be blank.
