How to Edit an Existing Roster
If you already have a roster in the system, it is very easy to make corrections to it.
If you are making many adjustments at the beginning of the season, you may prefer to manage it with a
supplemental or replacement roster upload.
However if you are simply wishing to make minor adjustments or add/deactivate a few athletes, the athlete editor is the way to go.
You must be logged in to http://athletic.net and on your team home page. Instructions for doing this are included in this page:
how to get to your team homepage. Once on your homepage, then click on edit athletes. Your screen should now look like the following image:
The Athlete Editor |
Letter A: Be sure you are on the right season! You will only affect the currently selected season which will be shown in bold. By default it is the "current" season.
Letter B: You can display all athletes at your school if you wish, including both past and present athletes. By default you are only seeing currently active athletes, so if you wish to reactivate a prior athlete who was active in an earlier season, click on the "all" tab.
Letter C: Any linked schools are displayed here. If you have a feeder middle school and you have asked for it to be linked (use feedback at the bottom of your team home page) you will have incoming freshmen who were active in 8th grade the prior year, for example. This will keep their grade school performance history linked. See how this results in all levels of one athlete being linked:
Linked Profiles - MS, HS, College |
Letter D: Choose the proper Gender. Men and women are on separate tabs and by default you are looking at the men. Click on the appropriate gender.
Letter E: If you wish to jump to one athlete in particular, use the search function. This will only search the currently displayed "tab" of athletes, so you will not find a deactivated athlete from a prior season if you are on the active tab. You will not find a girl if you are on the boys tab. For best results I find that clicking on the "all" tab and the proper gender yields the fastest/best results.
Letter F: Shows the headings for the athlete editor. You can sort on any of the headings just above athlete names by clicking on the heading. Sorting will be based on the originally displayed data until you exit the page and re-enter it. In the example given there are extra columns I have added (throws, jumps, sprints, distance) so your display may look a little bit different if you have added any additional fields to the athlete editor.
Clicking on any athlete will bring up the athlete editor window. Before doing so, scroll to the bottom of the editor window and familiarize yourself with the tips found there:
- Left click to open highlighted athlete
- 'Enter' to open an athlete when filtered down to one active athlete.
- 'Up' and 'Down' arrows navigate between athletes when open.
- 'Esc' closes athlete.
- 'Ctrl+Shift+F' jumps to 'Search Athletes' box.
- Edited Athlete Data is automatically saved.
- Click the to open athlete profile in a new window.
The editor window that pops up may not be intuitive at first --
you do not need to hit save, changes you make are live and instant. When you are done, click the escape key to exit. You may also simply hit next/previous to scroll through your athletes.
Letter G: To de-active an athlete, simple click on the link provided. For more on deactivation and the effect of doing so, please see this article:
